The Geographical Society of London (GSL) is a not-for-profit organization and a registered charity. Its aims are to improve knowledge and understanding of the Earth, to promote Earth science and education and awareness, and to promote professional excellence and ethical standards in the work of Earth scientists, for the public good. It is the world-leading communicator of Earth science- through its scholarly publishing, library and information services, cutting-edge scientific conferences, educational activities and outreach to the public. As a Member of The Geological Society of London you can:
- You can register as a Chartered Geologist (CGeol) and Chartered Scientist (CSci). The Chartered designation indicates a professional practitioner who has been peer assessed as having key professional competencies and experience in their field of practice.
- If you are working towards Chartership and would like a mentor the Society can help you find someone to guide you through the process. Discounts are available to Fellows on our endorsed training courses allowing you to further develop your knowledge and experience.
- Access to the combined Journal option (Journal of the Geological Society and Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology). Also, access to the Lyell Collection- an online collection comprising of the Society’s journal titles, Special Publications and key book series - plus journals published on behalf of other societies.
- The Geological Society and the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS), have agreed that Fellows who are members of both Societies will receive a 25% discount off the RAS rate 3 and GSL 34-59 age band of membership fees.
