The Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is one of the world’s leading organisations to promote the importance of statistics and data, and have done so since they were founded in 1834. They are a professional body for all statisticians and data analysts – wherever they may live. There are more than 8,000 members in the UK and across the world. As a charity, they advocate the key role of statistics and data in society, and work to ensure that policy formulation and decision making are informed by evidence for the public good. They aim for statistics to be used effectively in the public interest, so that policy formulation and decision-making are informed by evidence of the good of society. Also, For society to be more statistically literate, so that people’s understanding of data, risk and probability can inform their daily decision-making, leading to better outcomes.
