The world of project management is varied and fast-paced. The role of a project manager is found across almost all industries and sectors. It is also a job that does not always require a specific type of degree. While graduates of business and project management degrees are an obvious choice, having one of these degrees is not a pre-requisite. What can a biochemistry graduate do to have an edge in the job market?
A biochemistry degree should have helped you developed specific skills, such as laboratory skills, molecular biology techniques and research and data analysis. Many of the skills you’ve learned will be transferable and desirable in a number of roles. However, biochemistry is a competitive field and one of the best ways to have an edge is to already have gained some work experience in your field. Many science degrees now offer an option of a year in placement or you may be able to arrange for work experience yourself during breaks from study, or after you have graduated.
