Graduate IT Jobs in London

Location

With a population of over 8 million, London’s status as a world city continues to grow both economically and culturally. The city hosted the Olympic Games in 2012 to great success and the capital’s reputation as a major centre for Sports, Fashion, Arts, Media and Research precedes itself.

The city is also the heartbeat of the UK’s economy and is home to some of the world’s most esteemed educational institutions, making London a huge draw for students and graduates.

Outstanding Universities

London is a major centre for higher education with a student population of over 300,000 and a host of Russell Group institutions being based within the city.

Imperial College London is ranked 2nd in the UK for Computer Science, whilst University College London is ranked at 9th.

Other Universities with strong reputations for technical degrees include Kings College London, Royal Holloway and Queen Mary University, all ranked in the UK’s top 40 for Computer Science.

Brunel University, City University, the University of East London, University of Greenwich, London Metropolitan, University of Westminster, London South Bank University and Kingston University are all based within the city and offer technology related degree courses.

Job Opportunities

Due to London’s status as a major city it unsurprisingly dominates the UK’s technology sector, with Shoreditch’s Tech City having a formidable reputation as the county’s biggest tech cluster.

The district’s Silicon Roundabout is home to technology giants such as Google, Facebook and Amazon, whilst the surrounding area provides the location for the world’s 3rd largest cluster of tech start-ups.

Moving away from East London, the city provides ample choice for graduate looking for work in the tech sector elsewhere and with the city’s economy at £309bn, students from technology backgrounds can expect to be sought after by organisations large and small looking to bolster their own technical departments with fresh talent.
