Forensic Science Graduate

As a leading recruiter of graduates with STEM degrees, we help organisations find talented forensic science graduates. A fascinating industry, forensic science encompasses a number of roles, both within the traditional field of forensic science and in other associated fields, where skills such as attention to detail and an enquiring mind are an essential skillset.

Forensic science graduate jobs are often related to laboratory skills and attention to detail. There are opportunities in some forensic science degree jobs to work on criminal cases as a forensic scientist, and also positions that are in other areas of biological research.

Forensic science jobs can be found in both the private and public sector. Currently, most criminal forensic services are outsourced, so many traditional forensic science roles are now with private companies. However, some forensic science graduate jobs can be found with the police force, the Ministry of Defence, the intelligence services and in universities.

What forensic science graduate jobs can I go for?

There are a number of roles that forensic science graduates can apply for, which include:

  • Crime scene investigator
  • Forensic recovery officer
  • Forensic casework manager
  • Forensic analyst

Many forensic science graduates will have learnt the skills that employers are looking for while studying their degree. A skillset that is desirable to employers of this type can include:

  • Methodical approach to work

Another key skill for forensic science graduates is the ability to communicate, as you will have to write up reports and potentially present your findings to a room full of people. Depending on the type of forensic work you undertake, you may have to deal with upsetting and unpleasant situations.
