Job Overview:
We are working with a renowned global asset manager. A team of highly qualified science and mathematics graduates work within their research department, providing an analytical and scientific approach towards investment decisions.

The next hire will provide assistance to the research team. It is essential that the person has a strong understanding of data, mathematics and/or a scientific discipline so that they can understand the context of the research teams work and are better able to provide relevant support.

The role is well suited to a candidate who has completed a Masters or PhD, enjoys the intellectual challenges associated with study but who wants to move out of academia into a well remunerated, commercial position.

Job Summary:

You will work in a broad role, supporting the team across a number of tasks that are detailed further below…

Research (30%)

Supporting the Head of Investment Strategy, you will coordinate the research team by recording minutes, allocation research tasks and maintaining the details of the various projects, meetings and achievements.

Academic Engagement (15%)

You will assist the Executive Office by supporting the academic engagement programme. This is likely to involve managing relationships across various universities, attending prize giving events and organising recruitment events.

Coordinating Meetings (15%)

You will assist the research team by arranging talks, events and meetings for the London based team.

Technical Support (15%)

Liaising with the IT team and research administration team, you will assist with document management, system upgrades and ad-hoc projects.

General Administration (10%)

You will assist the researchers by preparing presentations, coordinating the monthly meetings and ensuring that the team are aware of content submission deadlines.

Travel Administration (10%)

Part of the role will involve coordinating domestic and international travel for the team of researchers.

Research Documentation Tasks (5%)

You will act as a "librarian" and will order, catalogue and manage the academic books and journals that have been purchased by the research division.

Candidate Requirements:

Commercial experience within a role that has included some administrative, academic or commercial support tasks.

A strong academic background with a Bachelors, Masters or PhD level degree in a scientific or numerate subject.

Interest in working with technology and ability to develop a knowledge of Matlab, LATEX, SharePoint or related.
