Laboratory Supervisor - Chemical and Analytical Technology

Job Location: Northamptonshire (commutable from Northampton, Brixworth, Kettering, Wellingborough, Corby etc.)
Job Salary: £20k - £22K Dependent upon experience, opportunities for progression
Job Details: Full Time, permanent. Possible flexible working hours

We are currently working with a well-known material testing company in Northamptonshire who are looking to hire a Laboratory Supervisor to start as soon as possible.

The company are well established and have been operating for almost 100 years now, serving customers worldwide. They have a positive history of hiring and progressing candidates throughout the company, offering good benefits and training opportunities.

Job Duties:
As a Lab Supervisor you will work 4 on 4 off shifts and have responsibility for supervising work in the companies Chemical and Analytical department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervision of the weekend shift including helping with day to day questions and problems, training staff, checking results and monitoring progress with job schedules
  • During weekdays, assisting and deputising for the laboratory team leader
  • Carrying out chemical testing to standard procedures, recording information in a legible and understandable manner
  • Some maintenance and calibration of equipment
  • Managing staff performance (e.g. attendance, assisting with disciplinary matters)
  • Ensuring quality and health and safety systems are adhered to at all times
  • Oversee and authorise purchases of laboratory consumables and chemicals

    Job Requirements:
  • A degree in a Chemistry, Material Science or Forensic Science related subject is preferable but not essential
  • 2 years' experience of testing carried out in a Chemistry laboratory
  • Good communication skills
  • A driving license and own car are desirable but not essential
