Opportunity To work within the International section within the Formalities team of a leading patent and trade mark attorney.
Our Client
We are working with a leading firm of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys. Their IP (intellectual property) experts obtain patent protection for inventions and trade mark protection for brands. Our client is a market leader within the UK, USA and Japanese markets. They work with SME firms, growing businesses and corporate clients.

The Role:

  • Monitoring deadlines, Processing incoming emails, Post and inputting deadlines onto the system for Patent, Design and Utility Model applications
  • Reporting Official Filing Receipts, Publication, Grant details and Letters Patent Documents to our clients
  • Scanning incoming post into the Document Management System
  • Instructing and monitoring the filing of stage 1 (Request to record) and stage 2 (Registration and grant) applications
  • Dispatching and monitoring the return of executed forms from the client and sending those onto the Foreign attorneys for filing at the local Patent Offices
  • Monitoring and maintaining the International team's email inbox
  • Monitoring and maintaining the daily International team staff reminder list
  • Ordering and monitoring receipt of the Certified Copies of Priority Documents and forwarding those onto the Foreign attorneys for filing at the local Patent Offices
  • Regular liaison with clients, Foreign attorneys, fee earners and others members of the firm
  • Other ad hoc duties that may arise

Required Skills and Qualities:

  • CIPA qualification (preferred)
  • Proven experience in a Formalities department ( International section preferred)
  • High level of Inprotech experience
  • Strong literacy skills and a good eye for detail
  • Able to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines calmly and efficiently
  • Strong communication skills as expected to liaise confidently with fee earners, clients and all other members of the firm
  • Have a flexible attitude and willing to stay late if needed
  • Be willing to learn, share knowledge and work as part of a team
