The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) is the international membership body and learned society for all marine professionals. The IMarEST has registered charity status and is the first professional institution to bring together marine engineers, scientists and technologists into one international multi-disciplinary professional body. It is the largest marine organisation of its kind with a worldwide membership of over 18,000 individuals based in over 120 countries. They aim to work within the global marine community to promote the scientific development of marine engineering, science and technology, providing opportunities for the exchange of ideas and practices and upholding the status, standards and knowledge of marine professionals worldwide.

* You can apply to become a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Marine Engineer (CMarEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Incorporated Marine Engineer (IMarEng), Marine Engineering Technician (MarEngTech), Chartered Scientist (CSci), Chartered Marine Scientist (CMarSci), Registered Marine Scientist (RMarSci), Chartered Marine Technician (CMarTech), Registered Marine Technician (RMarTech) and Marine Technician (MarTech).

* Membership of the IMarEST provides you with a wide range of continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities. From attending branch lectures, training courses and conferences, to networking and collaborating with special interest groups or access to technical knowledge via the Virtual Library.

* Membership of the IMarEST is seen by many employers as indicative of an individual's commitment to professional development and lifelong learning. * Join and participate in the IMarEST's Special Interest Groups - voluntary groups which operate to the benefit of a specialist field. SIGs are governed by a committee of members but all members are encouraged to participate.
