Gradute Jobs in Cambridge
A bustling and quaint small city with a population of 124,000 (almost a quarter of which are students), Cambridge is dominated by the globally renowned University of Cambridge.
The history of the city and university are interwoven and as a result the reputation of Cambridge for innovation in technology has seen the area also become known as the home of the Silicon Fen, one of the world’s most famous tech clusters.
The city’s reputation as an educational centre precedes itself. The University of Cambridge is the top ranked UK institution both overall and for Computer Science and is a constant presence in the world’s top 5 universities, boasting 90 Nobel Prize winners – more than any other academic institution.
Unsurprisingly entry requirements are demanding and typical offers will be made only to those with straight A* grades or equivalent at A-Level.
Those attending the city’s second higher educational institution, Anglia Ruskin University can also expect a warm welcome with access to the University of Cambridge’s social events extended to Anglia students.
Due to the University of Cambridge’s esteemed reputation in technological innovation, the Silicon Fen area is home to a huge amount of high-tech businesses and incubators.
The many Science and Technology parks in the area accounted for 24% of the UK venture capital as recently as 2004 and with technology companies such as Microsoft, Abcam, Jagex, CSR and CamSemi to name a few located in Cambridge’s tech cluster, the city remains one of the first choices for the UK’s elite Technology companies.
