A famous maritime city, Southampton remains a popular destination for students due to its excellent universities and lively cultural scene.
The city has a population of just under a quarter of a million people, around 30,000 of which are students and boasts a growing technology hub of its own whilst being situated close to one of the fastest growing digital hubs in the UK in nearby Bournemouth.
Southampton lies in the centre of the South Coast’s student setting, with the University of Southampton and Southampton Solent University located within the city and the universities of Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Brighton being close by.
The University of Southampton is an internationally recognised institution and a proud member of the Russell Group. The University ranks at 14th overall in the UK and 8th from Computer Science.
Southampton Solent University also offers an array of technology related courses and has a fine reputation for helping mature students attain degree qualifications.
Southampton Science Park has close links to the University of Southampton and is home to a number of thriving technology companies. So much so that there are plans for further expansion to the facility in 2015.
Southampton is also in close proximity to the UK’s fastest growing technology hub in Bournemouth, making the South Coast a great location for Computer Science graduates on the lookout for exciting job opportunities.
